LOCAL MOVES
Before the move - Your move will be priced and scheduled either in person with an on-site certified estimator or made by U.S Moving Services Relocation Consultant, by phone, fax, or e-mail.
The day of the move - A list of all items to be moved will be made for your convenience. All furniture is blanket-wrapped with moving pads at no charge. As part of our services, movers disassemble and reassemble any time needed. A local move, in most cases, is a move done from city to city within a state or in a 50-mile radius. All local moves are regulated by your state's Department of Transportation (DOT). The industry standard is to figure the charges by the man power and by the time of the move. At U.S Moving Services we are given an industry-regulated protection of 60 cents per pound per article, and up to $2000, FREE insurance coverage.
Packing - Packing is usually charged per box for material and labor. You can save a great deal of money by packing yourself. It can be quite an undertaking so we recommend allowing plenty of time (about a month) to accomplish it. Ask us for "packing tips" (many movers have brochures available). If you are unsure of your packing ability it's best to let the mover pack, at least the breakables if not all. Jewelry, cash, high value items, flammables or combustibles are recommended to be transported by you.
Appliance service - You can eliminate the appliance service charge by disconnecting the washer, dryer and icemaker before the mover arrives. All the hoses should be removed from the back of the washer and the tub secured with Styrofoam blocks to prevent it from moving during transit. The dryer hose should be completely removed. Important: Do not "drag" appliances away from the wall as the feet of the appliance may tear or gouge the floor.
Stairs, Long Carries and Elevators - You will be charge for a stair carry (a per pound price) if you have more than 8 outside steps. Stair carries do not apply inside a single family home. A long carry charge (a per pound price) will apple for every 50 feet from your door to the truck, the first 75 feet are free. You will be charged additionally if an elevator is used.
Payments And Deposits - In order to secure your moving date and time, we require a small deposit from the total estimate which can be paid in must forms of payments and upon approval.
Terms - On your move date the driver will require a partial payment after he has loaded, and the full balance must be paid upon arrival to your destination. Payment must be made in certified funds. (In Some cases an exception may be made) Please consult your relocation specialist.
Note - If your employer is paying for your move please advise our company in advance so we may make the proper arrangements for third party payments.
